The tale of rainbow serpent.

Long ago, in the Dreamtime of the ancient world, when the earth was still young and shapeless, there was a mighty creature known as the Rainbow Serpent. She was a being of immense power and beauty, her scales shimmering in every color of the rainbow. The Rainbow Serpent was said to have the ability to create life and shape the land with her movements.

One day, as the Rainbow Serpent slithered across the barren earth, she noticed that the land was dry and lifeless. There were no rivers, no trees, and no animals. Seeing this, the Rainbow Serpent decided to change the world and bring it to life. She moved her massive, colorful body through the land, creating deep channels and valleys wherever she went. With each twist and turn, she carved out riverbeds and lakes. As she moved, she sang a powerful song that awakened the earth beneath her. The ground began to tremble and crack, and from the cracks flowed water, forming the first rivers and streams. The Rainbow Serpent continued her journey, winding through the empty plains and mountains, her song growing louder and more vibrant. She created hills and mountains, valleys and forests. With every movement of her body, life began to emerge from the ground. Trees sprouted, and flowers bloomed in a kaleidoscope of colors. Birds and animals appeared, drawn by the life-giving waters. As the Rainbow Serpent journeyed across the land, she encountered other spirits who had been sleeping deep within the earth. These spirits were curious about the world above, so they followed her, bringing with them new creatures and plants. Together, they filled the land with a rich tapestry of life. Kangaroos bounded across the plains, fish swam in the rivers, and all manner of creatures found their place in the newly formed world. After many days and nights of shaping the land, the Rainbow Serpent came upon a great, flat plain. She realized that her work was almost complete, but there was still one thing missing. She needed to create a place where all the creatures could come together, a place of life and abundance. With a mighty heave, the Rainbow Serpent coiled herself up and began to rise into the sky. As she did, rain began to fall, filling the rivers and lakes to the brim. The water spilled over, creating vast wetlands and swamps. The plains were transformed into a lush paradise, teeming with life. The animals, grateful for the gift of water and life, gathered around the Rainbow Serpent to thank her. Seeing the joy and abundance she had brought to the world, the Rainbow Serpent felt content. She slithered up to a high mountain, and as she looked out over the land she had created, a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky, stretching from one end of the horizon to the other. It was a sign of her power and a promise to the creatures of the earth that she would always watch over them. The Rainbow Serpent then decided to rest, curling up at the base of the mountain she had climbed. Her vibrant scales began to fade as she fell into a deep sleep. It is said that the Rainbow Serpent still lies there today, her body forming the mountain ranges and valleys of the land. Her spirit, however, remains in every river, every tree, and every living creature. The people of the land, the Aboriginal Australians, honor the Rainbow Serpent as the creator and protector of all life. They tell stories of her great deeds to their children, ensuring that the memory of her power and kindness will never fade. And so, whenever a rainbow appears in the sky, it is a reminder of the Rainbow Serpent's promise and a sign that she is still watching over the land, bringing life and color to the world.
