As he got older, Momotaro learned of the wicked ogres that lived on a distant island, who often raided the villages, stealing crops, treasures, and causing much suffering. Determined to help his village, Momotaro decided to travel to the island of the ogres to defeat them and recover the stolen treasures.

 

His adoptive parents, though worried, supported his decision. They gave him a special set of dumplings called "kibi dango" (millet dumplings) to sustain him on his journey. Armed with a sword and carrying the kibi dango, Momotaro set out on his quest.

 

On his way to the ogres' island, Momotaro encountered three animals: a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant. Each of these animals tried to challenge him, but he won them over by offering them kibi dango. In gratitude for his kindness, the animals pledged their loyalty to Momotaro and decided to join him on his journey to fight the ogres.

 

When they arrived at the ogres' island, Momotaro and his animal companions launched a surprise attack on the ogres' fortress. With his strength and the help of his animal friends, Momotaro was able to defeat the ogres and capture their leader. They retrieved all the stolen treasures and returned them to the village.

 

Momotaro, his animal friends, and the villagers celebrated their victory. Momotaro was hailed as a hero, and he lived happily with his adoptive parents and friends, having brought peace and prosperity back to his village.
